What is a Helical Conveyor?
A helical conveyor is a mechanism that uses a rotating helical screw (helix) placed inside a tube or trough to move powder or granular materials. The helical conveyor transports powder or granular materials through the rotational movement of the helix, powered by a motor.
The main component in screw conveyors is the screw, which is wound around a shaft to perform the transport. The screw shaft is supported at both ends by bearings. If the screw is very long, it must be supported at intervals by suspension bearings. Since the presence of suspension bearings in a screw significantly reduces efficiency and causes blockages in the screws, the use of suspension bearings should be avoided as much as possible.
In screw conveyor systems, intermediate suspension bearings can be used depending on the particle size and density of the product. Intermediate bearings are not preferred in screws conveying highly dense materials and in conveyors with steep angles, as the risk of screw backflow is very high.
